Jennifer and Kate: Mother to mother. Kate isn't Chad's mother. So this really weird.
Just guessing, but they probably put this line in the script in jest, considering that they are both parents and were trying to get them to relate in some way.

I can agree with Chad that Will would want Sonny to be happy but I am not convinced he'd be all right with it being Paul.

I'll admit, I'm really curious now where this is going with Chandler back.
Thank you!!!! This is what I have been saying all along!! Glad someone else said it. :cheer:

On Freddy and his acting, WTF was that? I mean,Sonny's anger I guess is fine, but he needs to realize that Lucas was not sober, is hurting and clearly thinks Freddy moved on from Will while he (Lucas) has not been able to get passed his death. FS was way OTT today, clearly the weakest acting of the bunch

His acting this episode was the best since he's been back on the show IMO.

Lucas went way OTT in trying (and succeeding) to make Sonny feel guilty about moving on with Paul. Why is Sonny not allowed to have an OTT reaction to Lucas' behavior? Being drunk is no excuse to be as nasty and belligerent as Lucas was. Heck, Sonny didn't even know that Kate fired him that day so he wouldn't know that should consider that. Lucas' attack came completely out of left field to Sonny.

Frankly, I'm surprised that Lucas went "off the wagon" just because Adrienne dumped him. The way BD plays him normally, he doesn't come across as someone who would become this emotionally needy or unstable under these circumstances. I feel like I'm watching that fool Brady. Yes. There's also the matter of Will's death but Lucas rarely mentioned until last week so I assumed he had adapted to the lost already.
I'm really thinking that Ron is going for having Sonny showcase some sense of guilt now because it's sort of makes sense with what we know is coming down the road in a few weeks. The scenes at the church were necessary as they likely are a trigger to him dreaming about Will and conversing with Paul about his true feelings for Will still. I expect him to tell Paul that he will never stop loving Will, even in death, he loves and will love him for as long as he lives. Obviously this talk will likely be flash backed to in the future by Paul when Will is found alive. It's a relatively good plot point to have in this story. My problem with Sonny's behavior yesterday was that Sonny was making it sound that he has been a target of Lucas drunk inducing rages before, when he has never experienced drunk Lucas until he saw him in the church. He also doesn't actually realize just how destructive he was to Lucas and Adrienne's relationship when he pretty much stood aside and wanted his father to walk in on Ludrienne wedding day. In theory, and I know this is a soap that changed writers recently, I can't remember a time that Sonny deeply thought about Will's passing, how he was with Will and how he could have changed things to maybe make Will's final days better. It's not Sonny's fault that Paul cheated, but Sonny did leave Will in Salem alone instead of facing the circumstances head on, and wanting to work toward a reconciliation, he ran from the problem instead of facing it...then Will is killed, and I never truly saw guilt coming from Paul then, but I'm glad Ron is touching on it now, as he should be.

I also think it's obvious now that Adrienne's breakup was the final straw, and not the only thing that lead him to drink again. Sure the circumstances of what happened, and how it happened (shit she dumps him after sleeping with him and professing her love for him just that morning) sort of triggers it, but it's clear that he clearly never properly dealt with Will's passing. He didn't go to therapy, didn't see him talking to Marlena or anything about his feelings, Sami takes Allie back then and it's been years that he's seen her, then to top it all off his behavior has made Gabi stop him from being around Arianna. The only thing he can hold onto at this point is the thing that won't go away until he puts it to rest....the bottle.

Oh one last thing, I also think it's stupid for Sonny to say that he'll never forgive Lucas for bringing up Will's name....come again Sonny? Will was Lucas' son before and after he became your husband...he could mention him whenever the hell he wants.
I totally agree with this post

And watching this I find myself really pissed that Sami took off with Allie. Very selfish of her.
I wouldn't mind seeing Kate tear into Sami over this. Considering that during Lucas's childhood/teenage years she thought her other two children were dead so she knows what this did to Lucas.

I thought the mother to mother reference was Jennifer coming to the mansion worried about Abby and Kate being worried about Lucas not Chad.

Kate is a mother. Lucas is her son.

Jennifer is a mother (Abby and JJ)

Mother to mother.

Jennifer was referring to Lucast not Chad

I don't think anyone has said that Lucas's words shouldn't have affected Sonny. Just that his reaction should have been different. He acted completely clueless to the effects of alcohol and grief. While being drunk isn't an excuse, it's definitely a reason. There should have been a lot more than anger there.

It's been stated over and over again on the show and was explicitly mentioned and discussed in dialogue yesterday that Lucas didn't get off the wagon "just because" Adrienne dumped him.
You may be right but Sonny needed time to get there. What we saw was his first reaction to all what Lucas said. He came at Sonny in a way that no one close to Sonny ever has before so Sonny was thrown off guard and probably was not thinking of Lucas as family at that point. I'll be really hostile initially towards anyone family or not who came at me that way regardless of what they are going through personally.

So much this. Exxcuuuuuuuuuuuse me, Sonny? Lucas is not allowed to bring up his own son's name? GTFO with that, he can bring up the name of his oldest recently deceased child any damn time he pleases. It was that kind of intolerant vitriol that shifted Sonny's reaction from understandably angry and indignant, into OTT, just really mean territory. Unless all of that was just crazy displaced guilt, in which case I have no problem with Sonny feeling tortured that way. Except he seemed to get over it pretty quickly.....
That line from Sonny to Lucas was like WTF to me too but I know from first hand experience that people often say stupid, incoherent things when they are really angry.

Lucas has said that it isn't just Adrienne dumping him that set him off. It was Will's death, their wedding being broken up, Allie not being there, Adrienne breaking up with him, Gabi not letting him see Ari, getting fired.

I don't disagree in general, but I still think what we saw was OTT and ridiculous for Sonny. There's a lot of room between what we saw and complete understanding.

Was not a fan of the episode. A GHOST!?!?!? Enough of the ghosts. The ghosts always lack full personality.

And I agree, Sonny has been beyond annoying lately.

In addition, why is it so important to Abby that Gabby attend her wedding? She comes across as so cold. And in addition, Salem is supposed to get excited about a Chad/Abby wedding again? As a viewer I am tired of it. Plus, the double wedding. Really?!? A double wedding???????

Excellent episode. Bryan was on point. I realized how much I missed CM. the conversations between paul and jj and Chad and sonny were perfect. The audience had the chance to hear Paul and sonnys sides of the Will situation. I think the Will Sonny and Paul triangle will be great.
